Obituary—Mrs. S. C. Cooley
Cardira L. Thompson, was born in Athens, Ohio, on May 6, 1837, and died at her home near Numa Jan. 24, 1911, aged 73 years, 8 months and 18 days. She came to Iowa in her twelfth year and was married to S. C. Cooley on October 7, 1858, who died on Nov. 26, 1910, she only surviving him a few short weeks. To this union six children were born, two dying when young
and four surviving her. She joined the Methodist church when young, afterwards uniting with the Christian Advent church.
The deceased leaves four children, namely Clayton, George and Clarence who lived with her, and Perry, of Numa, also four grandchildren and one brother, W. H. Thompson, of Canon City, Colo., besides a host of friends to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 2 p. m . Services were conducted by Elder T. R. Glidewell, pastor of the Christian church, and interment made at the Motto cemetery. Many neighbors and friends were in attendance at the funeral services.
