Charles Peel Dies
Veterans Hospital
An illness of' five years resulted in the death Monday evening at 6:40 o'clock of Charles Peel, age 42, at his mother's home at 611 N. Fourth street. Mr. Peel was a veteran of the World War, enlisting May 28, 1919. He saw action overseas with the 88th division from a company formed at Camp Dodge.
He was born at Boone, Iowa, July 9, 1892, the son of Charles and Mary Peel. The father passed away ten years ago to the day that his son died. The family have made their home in Centerville for 33 years. Mr. Peel was taken ill in 1929
and had spent some time at the Veterans' hospital at Des Moines.
He was single. Besides his mother, he is survived by five brothers, Jim, Robert,
Lige, Bud and Frank, all of Centerville, and three sisters, Edna Shannahan and Mrs. Alta Garrison, both of Centerville, and Catherine Howell, of Higginsville, Mo.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon from the Baptist church, Rev. Luther Childs officiating. Burial was to be made in Haynes cemetery north of the city.
