Obituary—Martha Ann Atkinson
Martha Ann Streepy was born in Washington, Davis county. Indiana, May 15, 1825, and died at her home near Udell, Iowa, Monday. Feb 26, 1912, at 2 p.m. The early part of her life was spent in Indiana, and when a girl she was converted and united with the church.
In 1852 she was united in the bond of holy wedlock to Thomas Cooley. They immigrated the same year to the state of Iowa, where they made
their residence until the death of Mr. Cooley. There were to this union 2 daughters given, Mrs. Mary Luella Powell, who resides at Mt Ayre, Iowa, and Miss Elizabeth Eudora Cooley, who died in the year 188?
The departed was married the second time to Thomas Atkinson in the year 1858 and to this union were born two sons Thomas and Edward Atkinson.
This aged woman in the battle for life which she lost, we trust she was a victor because of her triumphant spirit having entered into the life
more abundant. Loving hands laid all that was mortal of this dear neighbor to rest in the beautiful country cemetery near Unionville, Ia.
She left to mourn her loss three children, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, five brothers and three sisters, with many relatives and friends. Our loss was her gain. The funeral service was held from the old family residence last Wednesday morning at 10:00 o'clock conducted
by Rev. Wm H. Slack of West Grove, Ia.

Note: Martha buried at Eaton cemetery, Unionville, Appanoose Co., Iowa.
