Andrew Venell, who was 83, and a former prominent resident, and coal operator of Centerville, died Sunday. April 27, 1952 at the home of his son, Reuben Venell at Lakeland, Florida. Mr. Venell was one of the outstanding men, among this city's early coal mine operators and the former Venell home on West Van Buren street was one of the larger of the early homes of the city.
Mr. Venell was born April 30, 1869 in Sweden and came to the U.S. as a young man. He entered the coal mining industry here and together with A. B. Dudley became one of the foremost mine operators in the field. With Dudley he operated the Egypt mine and it was in those days that he built his large home here. He also owned a considerable amount of other property over the city.
The body is being brought to this city to the Miller-Wehrle funeral home and funeral and
burial and announcement will be made later.
In death Mr. Venell leaves his son, Reuben, and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, who was Mathilda Samuelson before her marriage. She died three years ago. A son, Grant, preceded him in death four years ago. Reuben and his wife, Dorothy, are on their way to this city.
The family was widely known in this area and a great many residents here knew Mr. Venell and mourn his passing.

Andrew Venell, 83, passed away Sunday, April 27, 1952, at the home of his son, Reuben Venell, at Lakeland, Florida. Funeral services will be from the Miller-Wehrle Funeral home in Centerville Thursday (time will be announced later) with Rev.
Casper Benson officiating. Burial in Oakland cemetery
