Ron,
It looks like there were 6 schools in Fairview township in 1903, and 5 in 1913. From 'Past & Present of Allamakee County' (1913), Chapter 15 - the enumeration of Fairview township school-age children in 1912 was 97, and school enrollment was 75 children. The 1913 'Road Map of Allamakee County' shows the following schools in Fairview township:
-Section 25, south of Johnsonport
-Section 18, School #5, north of the Old Mission School
-Section 24, in Ion
-Section 25, School #4, south of Ion
-Section 33, School #3, northeast corner of the sectionThe 1903 'Waukon Standard Map' shows all of the above schools, plus one in Section 28 that probably had closed by 1913.
The 1917 Farmers Directory for Fairview township shows G.F. Ressell owning 80 acres in Section 18, postoffice Rt 2 Harpers Ferry. 24 years in county.
His children likely attended School #5 in Section 18.
The schools may have had 'local' names, but on the maps they are given numbers.
