Tracing family roots

HANSON, SANDRY, JORDON, EDWARDS, VALENTINE, BRITT, STRONG, STYRES

I am trying to trace my family tree on both my mom and dad's branches.
My mom was Ruth Fern Hanson, her parents were Melvin Monroe Hanson ans Sylvia Roseann Sandry. This is where things get confusing for me, can anyone help?
