My great grandfather Joseph Henry was born in Ireland in 1826, accompanied his patents to America in 1832. He married Julia Schroedy in Allamakee Co. on 17 March 1857. I can trace the family down the Mississippi River to Memphis, Shelby Co, TN in time for the 1860 Census, where his mother,Elizabeth aged 77, born in Ireland is living with them. Next the family appears in in Patoka, Marion Co, Illinois in 1870. It lies about 75 miles east of St. Louis, MO. By 1880 the family is back in Lansing, IA. It consists of Joseph Henry,age 55, Julia Shroedy, age 38, William H. Henry, age 22, George E. Henry, age 15, John C. Henry, age 12, Mary Henry, age 9,Benjamin Henry, age 2 and unnamed baby girl age 1 month.
I would like to find Joseph Henry's petition for naturalization or land transactions made by him that might point back to a port of entry to America from Ireland or England. Thanks. David
