James Tartt d. 1900 New Albin, age 71 years (see obituary on this site) believed to be the son of Benjamin Tart(t) buried in the Elizabeth, IL cemetery (Jo Daviess County). Benjamin was in the Apple River Fort when it was attacked by Black Hawk in 1832. We have rebuilt the fort which is now an Illinois State Historic Site. I am interested in contacting descendants for any oral history of this battle and the family's life in Jo Daviess County.
