Not a silly question at all -- it is a very good question!

The town of Postville is located in section 32 & 33, of Post township, Allamakee co. - immediately north of sections 4 & 5 Grand Meadow township, Clayton co.

The town of Postville's southern boundry is the Clayton co. line. In fact, the Postville town cemetery is geographically located in Clayton co.

Postville was the nearest town for people who lived in Grand Meadow, Clayton co. so you will often find them conducting business in Postville, or listed as a member of a church located in Postville, even though their residence was located in Clayton co.

You will need to look for records of your Grand Meadow families in both counties.
