OBITUARY – HERMAN RENK
Herman George Frederick William Renk, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Renk, was born in Union City township, Allamakee county, Nov. 27, 1888. He was baptized by the Rev. Ernst Birkner Dec. 26th of the same year. He attended public school in this vicinity, and received his catechetical instruction in St. John’s church where he was confirmed April 5, 1903 by the Rev. Henry Kunz. He chose farming as his life’s occupation. On Feb. 20th, 1924 he married Martha Welper and they made their home on a farm in the Winnebago Valley. After 3 years they purchased a farm in Union City township where Mr. Renk lived. They had three children, one son died in infancy.
Deceased had been in poor health for several years. He became seriously ill on Tuesday and was taken to St. Francis hospital, La Crosse where he died Thursday at the age of 63 years. Left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father are his wife and two sons, Jerome at home and Norman in service in Korea, who was granted a leave of absence to attend his father’s burial.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 28th at the St. John’s church, at Wheatland. The Rev. E. DeBuhr, pastor, officiated and interment was made in the nearby cemetery. Casket bearers were Roy Renk, Alvin Renk, Herbert Renk, Theo. Munz, Clarence Wiemerslage and Merle Welper, all nephews of the deceased.
