Hermann Kurk Passes May 23rd
UNION CITY FARMER DIES AT HIS HOME AT THE AGE OF SEVENTY-SEVEN YEARS
Hermann Kurk passed away May 23, at his home in Union City township. Four years ago he suffered a paralytic stroke, and since then has been in poor health. He was 77 years old.
Herman Heinrich Kurk was born August 11, 1858, in Schale, Westfalia, Germany. He came to this country in 1882, and settled on his farm in Union City township. He married on April 4, 1880, in Germany. Eight children were born to this union, all of whom survive. His wife died on October 21, 1927.
He is survived by five sons, August, Otto, Heinrich, Hermann and Paul, and three daughters, Mrs. Wilhelm Renk, Mrs. Heinrich Renk and Mrs. August Renk.
He also is survived by eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and two sisters, Mrs. Koenig and Mrs. Waters.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 26th, from the home and from St. John’s Evangelical church at Wheatland, conducted by the Reverend Frederick Bemberg. Burial was made in the nearby cemetery.
