Last Friday afternoon, May 20, at about 12:30 o’clock came the sad news of the passing of this good Christian wife, following an extended illness.
Mrs. A. H. Kurk was born in Union City township, Allamakee county, on April 14, 1884, where she also attended school and grew to young womanhood. She was united in marriage on Nov. 11, 1914, at Eitzen, Minn., to A. H. Kurk. Following their marriage they moved to New Albin, where she made her home until death. Mrs. Kurk possessed a beautiful character and was loved and endeared by all who knew her, a kind neighbor and friend. The deceased leaves to mourn her loss a kind and sorrowing husband, five sisters, Mrs. R. Weber of Caledonia, Minn; Mrs. Joe Kuehn of Withrow, Minn; Mrs. Robert Schemekel, Stillwater, Minn; Mrs. Henry Krueger, New Albin, and Mrs. Fred Kumpf of the Iowa River; also two brothers, Louis and August Dresselhaus of near Eitzen, Minn., and a large number of other relatives and friends. Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
The largely attended funeral was held from the home Monday afternoon at 1 o’clock and at the Eitzen Evangelical church, Rev. F. R. Bemberg, assisted by Rev. F.C. Klein, officiating. Burial was made in the Eitzen cemetery. The pall bearers were six of her nephews, Walter, Alfred and Henry Krueger, George, Raymond and Leslie Dresselhaus.
