Herbert J. Miene

Funeral services for Herbert J. Miene, 75, were held Monday, April 11, 11 a.m. in the Zion United Church of Christ, Waukon. Rev. Henry Heinbuch officiated. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery. Martin Funeral Service, Waukon, was in charge of arrangements.

Herbert J. Miene, son of Henry Miene, Sr. and Ella Ehde Miene, was born September 5, 1912 in Post Township, Allamakee County. He died April 9, 1988 at the Good Samaritan Center, Waukon.

He received his education in Post Township rural school, was a member of Farm Bureau and Equity Co-op. He was a retired farmer and former milk hauler and trucker. He was a lifetime area resident.

He married Emma Thies April 4, 1934 in Waukon. Rev. Van Nice performed the ceremony in the parsonage.

He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ.

Preceding him in death were 2 sisters, Margaret and Gertrude (in infancy).

Survivors include his wife, Ella, 2 children, Everett, Waukon and Mrs. Gordon (Joan) Olson, Chatfield, MN; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Henry and Irvin, Waukon and a sister, Mrs. Glen Olson, Elkader.

Pallbearers were David Hahn, Harvey Rissman, James Prestemon, Robert Stuckman, Wesley Goeke, Joseph Gesing.
