DAVID LOREN GUNDERSON

Funeral services for David Gunderson were held Monday, January 12, 2004, at 11:00 A. M. in the Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia, Iowa. The Reverend Dave L. Lenth officiated. Casket Bearers were: Justin Pritchard, Robbie Wedo, Mike Einck, Hank Wilson, Shane Kohrs, Ken Kuhse. Honorary Casket Bearers were: Mitchell Schnuelle, Aaron Peck, Cyril Livingood, Lowell Dehning, Ron Dehning, Danny Einck, Todd Frieden, Kent Long, Jim Bork, Mark Martins, LaVonne Martie, Angie Wedo, Mike Johnson, Dennis Hemesath. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

David Loren Gunderson was born August 18, 1962 at Redbank, New Jersey, to Ridar Gunderson and Bernadine Elizabeth Meyer Gunderson. He died last week in his home at Castalia, Iowa. He was 41 years old. David moved to Postville with his mother and brothers in 1967. He was baptized May 16, 1971, by the Reverend Norman Ullestad in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, and also confirmed there. David attended the Postville Community School. He received his GED later and continued his education at Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo, Iowa. David was employed by Henning Wood Products. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, golfing, and he had a special interest in heavy metal music. David was a member of the Frankville Fire Department.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Terri Lynn. Surviving are three brothers and several nieces and nephews: Eric (Annette) Gunderson, Hillsboro, OR: Vicki, Rebecca, Dusti, Erica, Elizabeth, Jessy; Chris (Jeralyn) Gunderson, Postville: Cody, Tyler and Rick (Renee) Gunderson, Castalia: Carrie, Tricia; and a half sister, Diane Huff, Seattle, WA. Also surviving are aunts and uncles: Ed Gunderson, and Astri Pistor, both of New Jersey, Gus and Betty Meyer, Postville, and LaVerna Barker, Dubuque, and many cousins and friends.
