JOHN MUCHOW

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday at the Schutte Funeral Home for John Muchow, 80, who passed away at his home Wednesday after a lingering illness.

Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, was in charge of the rites. Burial was in Postville cemetery.

John Muchow, son of Henry Muchow and Mary Fink Muchow was born February 26, 1872, in Grand Meadow township, Clayton County, and departed this life October 29,1952, after a lingering period of declining health, at his late home in Postville, aged 80 years, eight months and three days.

Mr. Muchow was a lifelong resident of the Postville community. He was made a member of St. Paul's Lutheran congregation.

Mr. Muchow was united in marriage with Mamie Ervin and to this union nine children, seven sons and two daughters, were born, all of whom survive the passing of their father.

Through his active years Mr. Muchow followed the carpentry and painter trades.

Left to mourn his passing are his widow, nine children: Clarence, Long Beach, California, Joseph of Castalia, John, Jr. of Ottumwa, Walter, of Postville, Enos, of Postville, Hall of Postville, Guy of Clermont, Mrs. Maria Moses, of Monona, and Mrs. Margaret Levy, of Des Moines; 32 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Henry; one half sister, Mrs. Charles Warnholtz of Postville; as well as other relatives and friends.

Mr. Muchow was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
