Mrs. RICHARD (Diane K. Goedken) WILD

Diane K. Wild, 54, of rural Lansing, died Monday, December 8, 2003, at her home following a battle with cancer. Funeral services were held Friday, December 12 at St. Mary's Lycurgus Catholic Church in rural Waukon, with Fr. Daniel Knipper officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, rural Dorchester. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon was in charge of arrangements.

Diane Kay Goedken Wild was born July 8, 1949, in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer E. and Kathryn A. (Kortenkamp) Goedken. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lamont and graduated from Starmont High School in 1967. Following school she worked for several years as a legal secretary in Oelwein. After that she returned to help on the family farm.

On April 24, 1982, she married Richard Wild at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lamont. They have farmed together in rural Lansing ever since then. She also worked part time as a rural mail carrier.

Diane was a former member of the Parish Council and CCD teacher at St. Mary's Lycurgus Catholic Church, a member of the board of Allamakee County Farm Bureau, a supporter and former leader of 4-H, and helped staff the polling areas for elections. She loved the rural life and enjoyed walking and spending time outdoors, gardening and raising flowers, and riding horses.

She also spent time painting, drawing, and working with ceramics and was an excellent cook. Diane was a dedicated mother, home schooling her three children and spending many of her favorite times with her family.

Survivors include her husband Richard and their three children, Ann, Steven, and Todd, all of Lansing; six sisters, Linda (Gary) Fox of Janesville, Wis., Nancy (Kevin) Kress of Rowley, Iowa, Connie (Glen) Curtis of Aurora, Iowa, Joan (Dick) Postel of State Center, Iowa, Peggy (Gregg) Pagel of Sumner, Iowa, and Sharon (Mike) Wallace of Red Oak, Iowa; and two brothers, Larry Goedken of Lamont, Iowa, and Fran (Lori) Goedken of Winthrop, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Honorary casketbearers were Burton Wild, Matthew Wallace, Dick Larsen, and Chad Postel.

Casketbearers were Keith Fox, Jason Kress, Chris Curtis, Jim Nolting, Jeff Grady, and Kevin Larsen.
