Mrs. JAMES (Wilma Mae Goeke) CURTIN

Wilma M. Curtin, 80, of Maquoketa, formerly of Wyoming, Iowa, and Waukon, died Thursday, December 11, 2003, at her home following a sudden illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 13 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Maquoketa, with Rev. Don Plamondon officiating. Burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waukon. Lahey Funeral and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.

Wilma Mae Goeke was born June 2, 1923, in Waukon, the daughter of John and Sophie (Peters) Goeke. She attended Beauty School in Cedar Rapids. On September 12, 1945, she married James Curtin in Waukon. Wilma was a homemaker. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Raphael #1156, Maquoketa. She loved flowers and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a Cubs fans and an avid card player and belonged to many card groups. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, James Curtin of Maquoketa; two daughters, Connie (Fred) Fisher of Anamosa, Iowa, and Glenda (Stephen) Fleming of Amboy, Ill.; one son, Gregory John (Madeline) Curtin of Prophetstown, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Kent, in 1952; her parents; two sisters; and her twin brother. A memorial fund has been established.
