Died - At his residence in Waukon on the morning of Friday, October 30, 1868, Mr. Noah Z. Barnard, aged 48 years 3 months and 26 days. An obituary notice will be given next week.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Mr. Noah Z. Barnard was born on Wheeling Island, West Virginia July 14, 1820. At the age of twelve years his family moved to Belmont Co., Chicago where he married in 1843, and where he remained until he came to Iowa, and became a citizen of our town in the spring of '67. He engaged largely in fruit raising and nurseries with his brother, Charles Barnard, laying the foundation of one of the most extensive nurseries in the West. As a citizen, he was quiet, sober, performing each duty with precision and regularity. As a husband and father, he was kind, gentle, and a great lover of the home and fireside circle and endeared as but a few parents are to their children. Although not a member of any particular church organization, his walk and influence in life was always in favor of teachings of the Bible, and he died in full assurance of a blessed immortality.
