Mrs. OTTO (Ida Shirley) McCurdy FISCHER

Services were held Monday, June 2, 1969 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran church for Mrs. Otto (Ida) Fischer who passed away at the Postville Hospital, May 30, 1969 at the age of 80 years, 11 months, 25 days.

Mrs. Otto Fischer was born June 24, 1888 at Apollo, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Hilary and Elizabeth Towney Shirley. She was formerly a member of Poke Run Presbyterian Church and was a Sunday School teacher near Apollo, Pennsylvania. Much of her life was spent as an elementary school teacher in Pennsylvania.

Her second marriage was to Roy McCurdy. A son, Ensign John S. McCurdy was born and preceded her in death during World War II. On December 5, 1941 she was married to Otto Fischer of Postville. The rest of her life was spent here and in Orlando, Florida. She has been a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, a brother, a sister and a son. She is survived by three nephews, Morton Shaw of Murrysville, Pennsylvania; Leonard Shirley of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Dr. D. E. Shirley of Tucson, Arizona; two nieces, Mrs. A. W. Innes of Maryville, Tennessee; and Mrs. Christine Grossheim of Export, Pennsylvania; two stepsons and one stepdaughter, Clarence Fischer of Guttenberg, Iowa; Harold Fischer of Roseville, California; and Mrs. Burnell Anderson of Postville; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
