Mrs. WILLIAM (Elsie Louise Dreier) FISCHER
Funeral services for Mrs. William Fischer were held Friday, July 27, 1990 at 11:00 a.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
Elsie Louise Fischer, daughter of Fritz and Wilhelmine Dreier, was born March 7, 1902 in Bloomfield Township, Winneshiek County, near Castalia, Iowa. She passed away Tuesday, July 24, 1990 in Veterans Memorial hospital at Waukon, Iowa. She was baptized April 5, 1902 in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville and confirmed there in 1916 by the Rev. E. Schmidt. She received her education at the Oak Hill School.
On January 17, 1920 she was married to William Fischer at Castalia, Iowa. They had 3 sons. They lived in Milwaukee, WI until 1922 when they moved to Janesville, WI. She had been employed by Gibbs Manufacturing and Research company for 15 years, retiring in 1960. For 7 years she lived in the Riverview Heights Apartments at 930 North Washington Street in Janesville, WI. On October 8, 1989 she moved to the Westwind Apartments in Postville.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William, 2 sons, Lloyd, who died in infancy and Adrian, 3 brothers, Albert, Herbert and Emmet Dreier and 3 half-sisters, Ida Aummun, Louise Schultz and Emma Fischer. Surviving are a son, Kenneth of Davenport, IA, 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Woman of the ELCA in Postville and the VFW in both Janesville and Postville.
Casket bearers: James Fischer, George Fischer, Gerald Vagts, Curtis Dreier, Matthew Collins and Fred Vagts.
