DOROTHY FISCHER DIES AS RESULT OF CAR ACCIDENT
Funeral services for Dorothy I. Fischer, 72, were held Tuesday, Feb. 24,1981 at 1:30 p.m. at Community Presbyterian Church, Postville. The Rev. Dennis E. Morey officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
Dorothy I. Fischer, daughter of Mort C. and Bertha (Uhl) Deering, was born Feb. 10, 1909 in Allamakee County, Iowa. She died Feb. 20, in a hospital in Seattle, Wash. after having been hit by a car while crossing a street, Dec. 21.
She attended Evergreen rural school, graduated from Postville High School in 1926 and Coe College in 1930.
After teaching high school for two years she moved to Chicago and became a beautician. She was married to Arthur Fischer June 21, 1940. Soon after her husband's death in 1964 she moved to Postville and cared for her mother who was bedridden for two years.
Dorothy was a member of Renton First Methodist Church and was a faithful worker in the womens organizations. She also belonged to a service organization Sigma Phi Gamma, Lamda Psi Chapter and enjoyed volunteer work with the Senior Citizens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a brother, Irving. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Esther) Schultz of Postville and Mrs. W. B. (Marjorie) Wallis of Renton, Wash.
