Mrs. BEN (Louise Bertha Rekow) MEYER

Louise Bertha Rekow Meyer was born October 6, 1890, on a farm in Forest Mills Township, Allamakee County, to parents Herman and Bertha Fischer Rekow.

She was baptized December 28, 1890 by Rev. John Groening at her home and confirmed March 27, 1904 by Rev. William Paulsen at the Lutheran Church, Luana. She received her education in rural schools in Allamakee County.

On February 28, 1917 she married Ben Meyer. Rev. Westenberger performed the ceremony in Luana. They had one son. The family made their home in Monona. Ben died Jan. 19, 1972.

Louise remained in her home until 1984 at which time she moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Postville. She died at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville, Friday, February 27, 1987.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; 6 brothers, Otto, Charles, Fred, William, Emil and Henry; four sisters: Anna Dresser, Helen Parker, Minnie Cummings and DeEtta Landt.

She is survived by one son, Leo of 1436 Orchard Drive, Ojai, California, 93023; one granddaughter, Karen Mason and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 2, 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona with Rev. Harold O. Ward officiating. Burial in Monona City Cemetery, Monona.

Pallbearers were LaVern Landt, Allen Landt, Neil Landt, Leigh Rekow, Stanley Schroeder, David Schutte, and Karl Rekow.

Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona in charge of services.
