Mrs. DAVID (Louisa Schroeder) MEYER
Funeral services for Mrs. David Meyer, 79, are being held this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Charles E. Witt officiating. Mrs. Meyer passed away Saturday morning. Burial will be in Postville cemetery.
Louisa, daughter of August and Wilamina Schroeder, was born in Westfalen, Germany March 17, 1875, her age being 79 years at the time of her death. In company with other relatives, when only 17 years of age, she emigrated to America, seeking more favorable living conditions. She came to Postville where she has lived every since.
After a years residence here, she was united in marriage to David Meyer on September 21, 1893 by the late Rev. J. Gass in the Lutheran Church of Postville. Four children were born to this union, all of whom are surviving. They are: Fritz A. of Hayward, California; Mabel W. (Mrs. Pete Meland) of Postville; Harvey C. of Phoenix, Arizona and Elmer L. of Postville. Besides these children, 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren survive.
Mrs. Meyer was confirmed in Germany and on arrival here was an active member of the Ladies Aid, being a charter member. She was made a life-long member of the Missionary Society of St. Paul's.
