WILLARD SANDER 1926-1992

Funeral services for Willard Sander were held Wednesday, November 25, 1992 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Charles W. Miller officiated. Joann Martins was the organist with Kim Schutte as soloist. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Karl Sander, Kevin Sander, Dennis Wiedenman, Steven Friederich, David Janett, and Jim Janett. Honorary casket bearers were Daryl Sander, Burnell Sander, Raymond Friederich, and Ramon Sass.

Willard August Eldo Sander, son of Walter Fred and Amanda E. (Schutte) Sander, was born September 17, 1926 in Post Township, Allamakee County, near Postville, Iowa. He passed away at Luana, Iowa on November 21, 1992. He had reached the age of 66 years, 2 months and 4 days.

He was baptized December 18, 1926 by the Rev. E. T. Finck at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville and confirmed there on March 17, 1940 by the Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig. Willard graduated from the Luana High School and then began farming with his parents on the family farm.

On November 30, 1952 Willard was married to Beverly Ann Brown. To this union three children were born. Their son, Dan, farmed with him from 1980 until 1987, when Willard retired. He had recently moved to Luana. He is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.

Willard loved to hunt and fish in his spare time. He also collected coins, played golf, loved to dance and spend time with his family. He was also an avid sports fan.

He is preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are a son, Lynn of Robinsdale, MN, a daughter, Marcee Sander of Golden Valley, MN, and a son, Danny and his wife, Lynette and their son, Clinton of McGregor, Iowa; a brother Wayne Sander and his wife, Jean, of New Hampton, IA, and a sister, Irene and her husband, Leonard Wiedenman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
