Funeral services for Mrs. Flossie Schievelbein were held Saturday, Dec. 19, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran church in Postville. The Reverend Julius L. Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Gooding Cemetery, rural Farmersburg, Iowa.
Flossie Schievelbein, daughter of William and Anna (Henkes) Moon, was born June 2, 1902 near Farmersburg, in Wagner Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She passed away December 17 at Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
She attended the Gooding School and the Gooding Church until her family moved to Farmersburg in 1914, where she attended the elementary school. On May 12, 1942 she was baptized and confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church in Farmersburg. On June 25, 1942 she was united in marriage to Fred Ruckdaschel, who passed away in September, 1951.
On October 15, 1954 she was married to Harry Schievelbein. They lived in Postville where she worked for the Postville Telephone Company until 1960.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Fred and Harry, who died in 1976, four brothers, Ira, Gus, Herb and Leo, and two sisters, Mabel (Mrs. Joe Holly) and Jessie (Mrs. Alva Jones).
Surviving are a step-son, Lendall Schievelbein of Farmersburg and a step-daughter, Mrs. Vernis (Glenda) Henkes of Luana, three step-grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.
