Services were conducted from the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville, July 2, 1969 at 1:30 with Rev. Curtis H. Webster officiating for Philip H. Steffens.

Philip H. Steffens, son of Henry Steffens and Ann (Koester) Steffens, was born October 16, 1881 at Eldorado. He passed away at his home in Clermont June 29, 1969, at the age of 88 years and six months.

Mr. Steffens was baptized and confirmed in the German Lutheran Church by Rev. Blessin at Eldora, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Mae Dundee, May 22, 1907. To this union was born one son, Raymond.

He is survived by his wife, Mae, of Clermont; one son, Raymond of Randalia, Iowa; one sister, Lena Martin of Maynard. He was preceded in death by his five brothers: Andrew, Henry, Clause, Fred and Richard; also three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Walker, Mrs. Edith Sheppard and Mrs. Martha McCan.

Mr. Steffens was employed in the Clermont Brick Yards for several years; later farming in this community until 1930, when he moved to Clermont where he has since made his home. Burial was at God's Acre Cemetery at Clermont.
