Services were held at the Thornburg Funeral Home, McGregor, last Thursday for Norman H. Starkey who died at the Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wisconsin October 18, 1976. The Rev. Oliver Larkin officiated. Death was attributed to heart failure. He had been hospitalized three weeks.
Born May 8, 1916, at Marquette, he was the son of James and Bessie Knapp Starkey. November 6, 1939, he was married to Beulah F. Bray at Waukon. She preceded him in death August 14, 1969. They resided for a number of years in rural Postville. He had been a farmer and laborer and prior to his illness was employed at Iowa Turkey Products, Postville.
Survivors include his children, Mrs. Roland (Marilyn) Meyer, Postville; Mrs. Dale (Beverly) Johnson and Mrs. Ralph (Janice) Dougherty, Waukon; Ricke Starkey, Luana and Lynn, Jerry and Bradley of Monona. Surviving brothers and sisters are, Mrs. Cleophus (Dora) Anderson, Marquette; Mrs. Steve (Jean) DeLong, Reedsberg, Wisconsin; Dean Starkey, Marquette; Clifford Starkey, Monona; Harry Starkey, Tacoma, Washington; James Starkey, Rochester, Washington, and Robert Starkey, Dubuque. There are 15 grandchildren.
Interment was in the Council Hill Cemetery.
Submitter note - Norman's father, James Starkey ,died in February of 1952.
