Charles E. Jones

Services were conducted Monday, December 21 at 10:30 a.m. from the Community Presbyterian Church for Charles E. Jones who died Friday, December 18 at Community Memorial Hospital. He had been admitted to the hospital December 12.

The Rev. Dick Harberts officiated.

Charles Edward Jones, son of Edward and Margaret Wava Cain Jones, was born February 1, 1921, in Clermont, Iowa. His early childhood was spent in Postville where he received his education. His entire life was spent in and around Postville except for military service during World War II and serving in combat in the South Pacific.

On February 7, 1942, he was united in marriage to Vivian Irene Flack at Waukon. To this union nine children were born: Robert, Wayne, Patty, Tommy, Steven, Angie, Robin, Janet and Jennifer.

Mr. Jones was employed by the Roberts & Son Feed and Seed Co. for approximately 30 years. He was a member of the Volunteer Firemen since 1941; member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and of the American Legion.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Margaret Cain Jones, a sister, Betty Mae and a brother, Arthur Allen, both in infancy; also by two daughters, Patty at age 6, and Angie in infancy.

Charles is survived by his wife, Vivian, and 7 children: Robert Edward of Postville; Wayne Allen of Ossian; Tommy Roger serving in the U. S. Army in Korea; Steven Ray, Robin Irene, Janet Dianne, and Jennifer Ruth, all at home. Also two brothers: Virgil of Flint, Michigan, and Leslie (Dick) of Postville; one sister, Lucille (Mrs. Rodney Anderson) of Castalia. There are two grandchildren.

Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
