H.M. Jackson, who has been the past week at Lansing, Iowa, where he was called by the sickness and death of his father, Lieut. J.P. Jackson, returned home Friday night. His father died Tuesday, Jan. 7, and the funeral occurred the following Thursday.

J.P. Jackson was a veteran of the two wars, Mexican and Civil war. He was born in 1825 and was about 22 years old when he entered the Mexican war.

He was 87 years old at the time of his death. He leaves four children, Mrs. Mary Gauntz of Lansing, Iowa, with whom he was living at the time of his death; Charles Jackson of Providence, R.I., Mrs. Loraine Smith of St. Paul, Minn., and H.M. Jackson of Sycamore.

Lansing, Iowa - Lieutenant Jackson was buried at Paint Rock cemetery Thursday. He was 88 years of age and a very highly respected citizen of Lansing.

-Biography (1882) in the History of Winneshiek and Allamakee Counties, Iowa, by W.E. Alexander gives the name of his wife as Mary McFadden

-Paint Rock / St. Joseph's cemetery records the burial of Joseph P. Jackson 1825-1913. He served in the 3rd OH Inf. during the Mexican War and was a Lieutenant, Co. B, 12th IA Inf. in the Civil War.
