Herbert M. Jackson passed from this life at his home 504 North California street in this city yesterday, Thursday morning, Jan. 25, after suffering for several months of cancer.

He was a carpenter by trade, and for some time before his illness he had been employed in the oil business by the Elmore Oil company here.

He was a son of Joseph Jackson and Mary McFadden Jackson, both now deceased, and was born at Lansing, Iowa, on Nov. 15, 1866. He had been a resident of Sycamore for about 25 years. He was married to Carrie Whitney, who survives, with one step-daughter Miss Mada Whitney and two sisters, Mrs. Smith of St. Paul, Minn., and Mrs. Gaunitz of Lansing, Iowa.

Mr. Jackson was a reliable man in all his relations, of an agreeable address and widely known.

The funeral services will be held at the home at 2 o'clock this Saturday afternoon, Rev. N.E. Spicer, pastor of the Universalist church, officiating, and the interment will be in Elmwood cemetery.
