Albert "Audie" Meyer, age 70, of New Albin, died Wednesday, November 20, 1996, in Lansing. Services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, at the New Albin Town House. Interment will be in the New Albin City Cemetery, with military rites. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the New Albin Town House.
Albert "Audie" Meyer was born September 1, 1926, to Albert and Sarah Meyer of Fortuna, ND. After school he entered the Army during the Korean War. After the war, he owned and operated the sawmill in New Albin for many years. He married Monte LeMere on May 11, 1961, and they made their home in New Albin. He continued to log in Iowa and North Dakota until his retirement in 1994.
Albert is survived by two sons, Randy Meyer of Eitzen, MN, and Jeff Meyer of Lansing; a daughter, Kathy Zwart of Hayfield, MN; six grandchildren; four stepchildren, Susan Engen of Spring Grove, MN; Pamela Adamson of Claremont, MN; Julie Dobbs of Finland, MN; and David Dobbs of Wasioja, MN; 13 step-grandchildren; three brothers, Ferris Meyer of West Union, IA; Marlend Meyer of Spring Grove, MN; and David Meyer of Denver, CO; and three sisters, Carol Moore of Lansing; Ardele Begalske of Cedar Rapids, IA; and LaVonne James of Austin, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, Michael George; and two sisters, Bernice and Doris.
The Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
