Gordon J. "Gordie" Gantenbein died Saturday, February 26, 2005, at his home in Riverton, WY, at the age of 77. Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, March 1, at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Riverton. Interment followed at Mountain View Cemetery. A Rosary was held Monday, February 28, at St. Margaret's Church.

Gordon Joseph was born June 27, 1927, In New Albin, to Gail Ulrich and Florence Lillian (Lane) Gantenbein. Gordon was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy after he served in the South Pacific in World War II. He moved from Iowa to Riverton in the 1950s and worked as an auto body repairman.

Gordon enjoyed watching football, especially the Denver Broncos. He also enjoyed duck hunting, walleye and trout fishing, and sharing peanuts with his great-grandchildren.

He was a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church where he went to Mass on Sundays and followed with breakfast at the Airport Cafe. He also belonged to Ducks Unlimited and was a member of a fisherman's club.

He is survived by his son, Scott (Vickie) Gantenbein of Riverton; a daughter, Jaimie (Dan) Eager of Glenrock, WY; brothers Gary and Gehrig Gantenbein of rural Riverton; a sister, Betty Smerud of New Albin; five grandchildren, Derek (Nicole) Eager, Keith (Sarah) Gantenbein, Anni (Jarred) Stafford, Kylie Gantenbein and fiancé Duke Emerson, and Karla Gantenbein; and great-grandchildren, Delani Stafford and Kaden Gantenbein.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gail "Spider" Gantenbein and Joe Gantenbein; and an infant daughter.
