George Gerhard Toedter, 67, of New Albin, died Friday, Jan. 31, 1997, at Caledonia Lutheran Home in Caledonia, MN.

He was born March 20, 1929, in Spring Grove, MN, to George Henry and Francis (Hagen) Toedter. He attended Clear Creek #2 rural New Albin School.

On June 5, 1954, George married Virginia Loging at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. He spent most of his life farming in the La Crosse, WI, area where he had a dairy, hog and beef operation. From 1952 to 1960 he lived in New Albin, where he worked for Aircraft Part & Manufacturing. (*NOTE* Probably Lee Aluminum Foundry & Manufacturing Co.)

He is survived by one daughter, Barbara (Gilbert) Brainard of Monona, IA; two sons, Randy (Jodi) and Jim (fiancé Cindy), both of New Albin; four grandchildren, Jill and Amos Brainard, and Chad and Chase Toedter; a sister, Eleanor (Donald) Leppert of Waukon; and an uncle, John Hagen of Lansing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 3, at the New Albin Town House, with burial in the New Albin City Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Randy Ellis, Shannon and Duane Rodenberg, George Wiemerslage, David Renk, and Robert Reinke.

Martin Funeral Home, Waukon, was in charge of arrangements.
