RAYMOND, BRINK, ARNOLD, ROSHEK

Waukon, Ia., Jan. 16 - James E. Raymond, well known Waukon resident, died at the family home Thursday after a brief illness.

Mr. Raymond was born in Trumbull county, Ohio, Nov. 18, 1857, and came to Allamakee county in the spring of 1878. On Nov. 23, 1878, he was married to Miss Clara Raymond, of Waukon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Raymond, pioneer settlers of Allamakee county.

With the exception of six years spent in Ohio shortly after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond have resided in Waukon all the years of their married life. On Nov. 23, 1928, they were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.

Mr. Raymond was an employee of the Holohan machinery business for a number of years and also operated a dray line for a period of 15 years.

They are the parents of nine children, four of whom are living. One son, Richard, died in the World war. Mr. Raymond is survived by his widow, one son, Ernest, Silvis, Ill.; and three daughters, Mrs. Alice Brink, Waukon; Mrs. Bertha Arnold and Mrs. Joseph Roshek, Cheyenne, Wyo.

Waukon, Ia., Jan. 20 - Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Raymond home for James Raymond of this city, who died Thursday after a brief illness. The Rev. Willard Johnson of the Baptist church had charge of the services with burial in Oakland cemetery. The funeral was under the auspices of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of which he was a member. Casket bearers were six members of the lodge, Namely: John Flage, Charles Burt, George Land, Frank Russell, George Leet and George Bircher.
