Charles Leo Steffen
LANSING, Iowa -- Charles Leo Steffen, 93, of Lansing, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 1995, at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lansing, with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Wexford. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing, where there will be a scripture wake service at 8 p.m.
Mr. Steffen worked for General Electric for a time after college. He later worked for Bucyrus-Erie Co., South Milwaukee, Wis. From 1959 until his retirement, he was a private consultant electrical engineer for mining companies, doing business all across the United States, Canada and in England.
He was born on July 22, 1902, in Platteville, Wis., son of John and Henrietta (Roarig) Steffen. He married Mary Manning on June 15, 1930, in Milwaukee. They lived in Milwaukee until 1973, when they moved to Lansing.
He graduated from Marquette University, Milwaukee, with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a charter member of the Lansing Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Steffen; a sister, Evelyn White, and a brother, Louis Steffen, both of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; 3 nephews, Roger, Patrick and Ronnie White; and a niece, Sister Roberta White, PVMI.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Robert.
