When eight years of age she moved with her parents to Allamakee Corty, Iowa, and spent practically all of her life here. her father was a miller and had the first flour mill in this section of Iowa. The family endured the privations of a pioneer people and she endured the hardships incident to a new country.

Two children came to them, Hattie dying in infancy and Frank residing at Scranton, North Dakota. Mr. May died in 1868. (Unable to find any record of his death.) After she was married there being no M.E. Church on the Bench she worked with the Presbyterians of Mt. Hope, doing what she could for the Master. July 18, 1892 Mr. Bulman died and for six years Mrs. Bulman with the assistance of her son Frank continued the work on the farm. Then in order that her daughters might have opportunity for better education she removed to Decorah, Iowa. Here she again joined the M.E. Church and served the cause faithfully.
She spent one year in California with relatives and then in 1909 went to live with her daughter in Starbuck, Minnesota. She passed away from this life at Starbuck, August 25, 1924, aged 78 years, 10 months and 28 days. Besides her son and daughters she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Celia Hoopingarner of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Lucy Warth of Decorah, Iowa, and a brother Charles McMillin of Saskatchewan, Canada, and also two grandchildren.
