Thomas James Larkin, age 13, of Waukon died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003 at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 18 at 11 a.m. at the Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, with Rev. Richard Eick officiating. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Waukon. Hanson's Funeral Home assisted with arrangements. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hanson's Funeral Home in Waukon. Thomas James Larkin was born January 23, 1990 in Waukon to Sue Larkin and Lyle Kolsrud. He was an eighth grade student at Waukon Junior High, where he was very involved in school and the community. He played the saxophone in the junior high band and jazz band, and was in the process of learning to play the guitar and oboe. He sang in the boys choir and chamber choir, and also participated in football, basketball, and track & field. Thomas loved going to antique and second hand stores. He collected military uniforms and insignia, and his future plans included joining the army after high school. Thomas is survived by his mother, Sue Larkin and her very special friend Jerry Sivesind; his father and step-mother, Lyle and Leann Kolsrud; siblings Amy Larkin of Cedar Rapids, Christin Larkin of Waukon, and Gary Kolsrud of rural Waukon; and his grandparents Don and Deloris Topel of Waukon. He is also survived by his aunt Diane Barhite of St. Paul, MN; uncle Robert Barhite and wife Meg, cousins Audrey, Neil, Wyatt, Alex and Gabi, all of Mt. Horeb, WI; aunt and uncle Dorothy and Barney Diersen and cousin Ross Kolsrud of Lansing; aunt and uncle Roger and Donna Kolsrud, cousins Amanda, Austin and Zach, all of Waukon. He was preceded in death by grandparents Dean and Marilyn Barhite; and uncles Wayne Kolsrud and Lealand Kolsrud. Casketbearers are Neil Barhite, Ross Kolsrud, Steve Larson, Mike Hutton, Jeff Sivesind and Trampes Curtin.
