Bernard Hitchins, age 75, of Carmichael, CA died September 2, 2003 at Kaiser Hospital in Sacramento, CA. Bernard was born in South Bend, IN. In 1931 Bernard (Barnie as he was known around New Albin) and his family moved to New Albin, where he graduated from New Albin High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was discharged after four years serving his country. He then went to work for the United Airlines in Cgo. Eventually he moved to Redwood City, CA and worked for the American Airlines and later did some truck delivery service in the San Jose and San Francisco Area. March 17, 1971 Bernard married Jean Neitling in Reno, NV. They made their home in Sunnyvale and later Carmichael, CA. Bernard is survived by his brothers, Tom of Sacramento, CA and Donald (Dorothy) of New Albin,; a sister, Mary Kern of Waverly; and ten nieces and nephews.
