Waukon, Ia. - The funeral of Carl Hanke, 50, Ludlow Township farmer, was held Friday afternoon at Salem Reformed Church in Ludlow Township, conducted by the Rev. E.M. DeBuhr, pastor. Burial was in the nearby cemetery. Mr. Hanke's death occurred Tuesday night at the Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse following a several months' illness.
He was born at Lippe Detwold, Germany on Nov. 10, 1888 and with his parents came to America when he was four years old. They established their home on a farm in Ludlow Township. On Feb. 17, 1921 he was married to Emma Nagel and lived in Ludlow until three years ago when they moved to a farm near Churchtown.
Survivors include his widow; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Martins of Post Township; and two brothers, Paul of Ludlow and Vern of Union Prairie Township.
