OBITUARY for George Goeke from Waukon Republican-Standard Newspaper Jan. 21, 1975

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 20 at 1:30 p.m. from Zion United Church of Christ-Waukon of Christ in Waukon For George Alfred Goeke, 79, Waukon resident who died Friday, Jan. 17, at his home.

The Rev. Henry Heinbuch officiated and burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

Mr. Goeke was born June 4, 1895 in Allamakee county and was s son of Fred and Augusta Rueggenmeier Goeke. He attended the local schools and was employed as a farmer and laborer. He served in World War I.

He married Hazel Livingood in Missouri. She survives.

Other survivors are his children, three sons, Allen and Wesley of Waukon and Ronald of Monona, and three daughters, Mrs. John (Ruth) Dotseth of Waukon, Mrs. Vernon (Lorna) Miller of Postville and Mrs. Donald (Karen) McMillan of St. Bernard, LA. Eighteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a brother, Samuel of Lexington, Neb, and two sisters, Mrs. Stella Beall and Laura Goeke, both of Waukon, also survive.

A brother, John preceded him in death.

Mrs. Goeke was a member of Zion United Church of Christ-Waukon of Christ.

Chester Hastings, Reuben Shindoll, Valiere Dundee, Robert J. Stock, Willard Goeke and Keith Hastings were casket bearers. Military rites were held at the graveside. Martin funeral home was in charge of the arrangements.
