John Goeke Rites Were Saturday
The death of John Henry Goeke, Jefferson township farmer, occurred Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Waukon Veteran Hospital following a long period of ill health.
He was born March 12, 1889 in Jefferson township and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Goeke. He was educated in the local schools and March 12, 1919 married Sophie Peters in Lexington, Neb.
Survivors are his wife and three daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Helen) Snitker, Waukon; Mrs. James (Wilma) Curtin, Wyoming; and Mrs. Harriet Low of Anamosa (Iowa) and a son Willard, at home. Two brothers, Samuel of Lexington, Neb. and George of Waukon, and a sister, Mrs. Fred Beall of Waukon, 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. in Zion Reformed United Church of Christ. The Rev. D.D. Kauffman officiated and burial was in Oakland cemetery.
