Obituary: Republican Standard July 22, 1947

William F. Dravis died Friday evening at his home here following an extended period of ill health.

A son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dravis Sr., he was born July 21, 1862 in Jefferson township where he grew to manhood. On April 10, 1885 he was united in marriage with Caroline Stock. They resided on the home farm for two years and from there to Estherville where they made their home for eight years, then returning to Jefferson. In 1937 he sold the farm and purchased the residence in Waukon where his death occurred.

Two daughters, Mrs. Elmer Fogt and Mrs. Otto Promnitz of Waukon are left to mourn his death. Mrs. Dravis having preceded him in death on September 19, 1942. He is also survived by three brothers and a sister, Paul F. and Henry J. Dravis and Mrs. Anna Stock, Waukon, and Ben of Marshalltown (Iowa). There is one grandchild, Charles Fogt.

Many friends called at his home to pay their last respects to a lifelong acquaintance. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon on what would have been his eight-fifth birthday at Zion Reformed church, conducted by Rev. E. L. Hennig. Burial followed in Oakland cemetery with the following serving as pall bearers; George Herman, Walter Hausman, James P. Baxter, Will Snitker, Ed Hansmeier and Fred Marten.
