Obituary: Waukon Republican May 20, 1952

Funeral services for Henry Dravis, lifelong resident of Allamakee county were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock at Bakke-Hanson funeral home. Rev. A.H. Grossheim officiated and burial was in Oakland cemetery. The pallbearers were Floyd Larson, Arthur Kruger, Ed Dee, Theodore Rumph, Alert Roe and John R. Johnson.

A son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dravis Sr., early settlers in Jefferson township, where he was born Oct. 26, 1874, and passed away May 16 (1952) at his home in Waukon, following a lingering illness.

His young manhood was spent on the farm. On Jan. 25, 1900, he was united in marriage with Emma Keehn, the ceremony taking place at the home of Rev. G. D. Elliker, pastor of Zion Reformed church. To this union three daughters were born, Mrs. Frank L. Christen, Des Moines; Mrs. Albert Sander, Waukon, and Mrs. L. E. Brufoldt, El Paso, Texas. Mrs. Dravis passed away in July, 1947 and in 1950 he married Mrs. Anna Bieber, who survives with his children mentioned above and two step-children, Clarence Bieber, Center township, and Mrs. Leonard Hakkenson, of Round Lake, ILL. Also living are two brothers, P.F. Dravis, Waukon and Ben of Marshalltown.

After coming to Waukon Mr. Dravis was in the employ of J. H. Hager in the implement business for several years. In 1905 he and his brother Paul purchased the Henry Fisher grocery business, dissolving partnership in 1916. He conducted a tavern a few years in his building on Main street now owned by Paul Bakke. He was also in the music business until ill health overtook him.
