Waukon, Ia. - Roy Flage, 44, retired farmer, was instantly killed Thursday afternoon while assisting his son, Donald, putting up hay on the victim's farm six miles west of Waukon. Mr. Flage was in the hayloft when he fell through a chute 30 feet to the concrete basement. He was dead when aid reached him.

He was born in Ludlow Township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Flage, 44 years ago. He is survived by his wife, the former Stella Grotegut and one son, Donald; one brother, Arthur of Waukon and three sisters, Mrs. Henry Krumme, Mrs. Albert Stuckman and Mrs. Paul Helming, all of Ludlow Township.

The body is at the Martin Brothers Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Waukon, Ia. – Special: Funeral services for Roy Flage, 44, of Waukon, who was killed Thursday afternoon when he fell from the top of a barn to the concrete basement floor 30 feet below while putting up hay on his farm, were held at the Salem Reformed Church in Ludlow Township Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Edmund E. DeBuhr, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the nearby cemetery.

Casket bearers were Grant and Clarence Flage, Elmer Fogt, Martin Stock, Arthur Kruger, and Walter Fiet.

Mr. Flage was born May 3, 1900, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Flage, in Ludlow Township. He was educated in the rural schools, and following his marriage to Miss Stella Grotegut, resided on the home farm until a few months ago when they retired and moved to Waukon to reside with his aged mother.

Beside his widow he is survived by an only son, Donald, who was recently married and lives on his father’s farm; a brother, Art Flage, Waukon, and three sisters, Mrs. Henry Krumme, Mrs. Albert Stuekman, and Mrs. Paul Helming, of the Ludlow vicinity.
