Waukon, Ia. - Funeral services for Miss Mary Ann Hart, 85, who died at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. John J. Hart, with whom she made her home, Wednesday, of infirmities of old age, were held Friday morning at St. Patrick's Church here. The Rev. Ernest J. McDonald, pastor, celebrated the requiem mass. Burial was in the family lot in St. Pius' Cemetery, Cherry Mound. Casket bearers were John Slattery, William Ryder, John Kelly, James Barlow, William Kaveny, and Firman Erding.
Miss Hart was born July 9, 1858, on a farm in Cherry Mount Township* (sic), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hart, early settlers of that vicinity. After completing her education in the Waukon schools, she taught in the rural schools of Allamakee county for 33 years. For a number of years she and her brother, James, lived in Canada, where each had land claims. She came to Waukon about 15 years ago to live with her brother John. He died a few years ago. A nephew, W. Sherman Hart, of Waukon, is the only survivor in this vicinity.

~Note: there is no Cherry Mount township in Allamakee co. - most likely she was born in Linton or Taylor twp. - the Cherry Mound cemetery is in Linton twp.
