Waukon relatives have received word of the death of Peter S. Narum, 77, at his home in Pasadena, Calif. Mr. Narum was a Waukon resident for many years, having served as postmaster for 14 years.
He was born on a farm southwest of Waukon, in Paint Creek Township, on April 15, 1867. He was engaged in the hardware business here for eight years, and in 1904 was appointed postmaster by President Theodore Roosevelt. He served for 14 years.
He was married to Miss Lena Anderson, of Paint Creek, on Sept. 9, 1897, and in 1924 they moved to California, where Mrs. Narum died two years ago.
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Carl C. Megorden, of Waukon, and Mrs. John L. Opfer, of St. Paul, Minn., and two brothers. Will, of Fargo, N.D., and Otto, of Puenta, Calif.
