Donice W. Adam

Donice W. Adam was born to parents Mildred Fiet Adam and Willard Adam on Nov. 17, 1941 in Waukon. He died at the University Hospital in Iowa City on May 8, 1992. He was 50.

He graduated from Postville High School and attended the University of Dubuque, where he studied chemistry and mathematics. On June 27, 1964 he married Carolyn Kay Martin at the First Presbyterian Church in Waukon.

Donice worked at several jobs before starting Big D's Pizza in Lansing in 1987, then in Waukon in 1989. He had formerly worked for Carnation and was a certified A. I. instructor. He also sold for O's Gold and Doboy seed and feed companies, and was a district sales manager for Moorman's Manufacturing.

He spent most of his time at his business, which he enjoyed running. He kept current on world events, and liked sports of all kinds. He ran for Mayor in 1991. He once thought of being a minister; he liked to help people when he could. He was a member of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of Waukon; his son, Eric Donice Adam, also of Waukon; his father, Willard Adam of Postville; his sisters, Charlene (Mrs. Dennis) Hinrichs of Mt. Pleasant and Barbara (Mrs. Lyle) Guese of Postville; his brother, David (and wife Colleen) Adam of Postville; and his mother and father-in-law, Ralph and Reva Martin of Waukon.

Donice was preceded in death by his mother.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 12, 1992 at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, the Rev. James Elvig officiating. Burial was at Bethlehem Cemetery.
