Mary (Goodell) McLaughlin

Mary Marcella (Goodell) McLaughlin, 88, of Lansing died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at her home in Lansing. A private graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing.

Mary was born to Thomas and Ella (Hayes) Goodell in Lansing December 5, 1924. She graduated from Lansing High School in Lansing.

Mary worked in the Lansing area where she met her husband to be, Paul. He worked for the Iowa Conservation Commission. Mary was united in marriage with Paul McLaughlin January 1, 1953 at a friend’s home in Odgen. They made their home in Des Moines.

Paul worked for the Internal Revenue Service for the federal government and Mary worked for the Iowa Department of Revenue. When Paul passed away in 1977, Mary returned to Lansing to live and care for her mother.

Mary is survived by nieces, nephews and a great-niece. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 1977; her parents; her sister, Esther; her brothers, Leon and Robert; and her nephews, Chris and Wayne.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lansing is helping the family with arrangements.
