Gretchen Freida (Wolter) Oldag Schlitter born:1917 May 29 died:1969 Jan 02. Buried Postville Cemetery Area B. Gretchen was married twice. H#1=Leslie Schlitter-1959. H#2=Leonard Oldag-1912 Aug 30-1993 Aug 01. Gretchen is buried beside her first husband as a Schlitter. Leonard Oldag is buried beside his first Wife Velva Irene (Gilson) Oldag-1958 Postville Cemetery Area F. (Leonard & Velva's obituaries are also posted on this board). In the Woodmansee book Gretchen is listed as Oldag and Schlitter in Area B. Gretchen is also listed as a Oldag in Area F.

Gretchen Wolter Schlitter Oldag (1917-1969)

Rites Held For Mrs. L. Oldag

Services were held Monday, January 6 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran church, Postville, for Gretchen Oldag with the Rev. Lenwood L. Monte officiating. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.

Gretchen Frieda Oldag, daughter of Henry and Frieda Wilke Wolter, was born May 29, 1917 in Clayton County, Iowa and passed away January 2, 1969 at the Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, Iowa.

She was baptized in the Lutheran Faith July 1, 1917 in the St. John church, Luana by Pastor F. Wettenberger. She received her schooling in the Luana schools. On October 10, 1937 she was united in marriage to Leslie Schlitter. The couple farmed in the Postville area until moving to Postville prior to the death of Mr. Schlitter on September 4. 1959.

On February 8, 1964 she was united in marriage to Leonard Oldag and the couple made their home in Postville. She is survived by her husband Leonard, a daughter Diana, a stepdaughter Janice (Mrs. James Everman), a stepson John (Jack) now serving with the Armed Forces in Viet Nam, two brothers Arthur and George Wolter of Luana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Karl (in infancy) and her first husband.
