Like a bolt from the blue came the message that miss Lucile Poesch had departed this life Monday morning at seven o'clock and gone to the other world. The message was confirmed, and we, with a host of other friends, are stricken with sorrow.

Lucile was born in Postville, November 23, 1893, and died at Waukon, at 7 o'clock Monday, Nov. 22, 1912, aged 18 years, one month and 30 days, death resulting from an attack of appendicitis and inflammation of the liver. She was a member of the catechumen class of 1907-8 and was confirmed on Easter 1908, her Bible verse selection for confirmation being John 3:36. During her time in my class and later on she was always the same humble, smiling girl, loved by everybody. She was an orphan, for her parents are both dead, but the good God who is a father to the orphans prepared a shelter for her in the home of her grandmother, where she was trained for life. After being fully prepared to make her own living the Good Shepherd laid her down on the sick bed. Her wish that her uncle Edward might take her home to Postville was fullfilled, though not in the way expected, as she came in her casket Monday night. We will hope that she passed away in the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ, who died and rose again and who has sanctified our graves by being himself in a grave for three days. Her sister Ruth, her grandmother, her classmates and many friends mourn the loss of a faithful sister, granddaughter and true friend. May the God of all comfort comfort them.

The funeral was held from the Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. R. Kuehne. Interment in Postville cemetery.
